Reducing waste - Sustainable Business challenge

This initiative is a concept developed by COGSY and embraced and supported by South Gladstone Rotary & local businesses.

The objective of this campaign aims to encourage our young entrepreneurs build a business to reduce waste, enhance sustainability, and cultivate a circular economy! All the while keeping the young minds problem-solving, creating, designing, modifying, communicating, collaborating, calculating and actively contributing to our community.

You will need to live in Gladstone Regional Area.
Be under 21 – Under 18 requiring consent from their parent or guardian
The concept development and business creation and implementation needs to be actively driven by the ‘business owner.’
It's OK to have had a bit of help and guidance from others – you might need initial investors, someone to drive you around or proofread your promotional materials.
This initiative will run from 30 December 2021 to 23 of January 2022

You will need to submit the registration for attached on this link by 23 January 2022
You (and your business partners if you have them) will be required to present your project and achievements to a panel of people.

Our invited panel of local business owners will be evaluating all submissions on –

Business planning and implementation

What things did you learn

Challenges faced and how you addressed or overcome them

Your impact with regards to reduction, repurposing, recycling and positively impacting the impact on waste and environment

Teamwork and how you worked together

Could your business grow and be sustainable into the future?

Would you participate in mentoring program and why?

Age 17 to 21 - Overall sustainable Price $ 5,000

Age 13 to 16 - Runner Up Price $ 2,000

Age 9 to 12 - Youngest Team Price $1,000

The winner will be announced on the 15th of February

All prizes will be paid out from South Gladstone Rotary. All money comes from local businesses supporting kids to have a go in our community.

All projects must be about reducing waste.
